Almost sounds like a line right out of a scriptural text. Do you remember who sat next to you in class? Thats almost as hard a question to tackle as maybe, what day of the week were you born? It would be a fantastic feat of memory to be able to recount that. After all, we changed seats several times during the academic year itself and then repeated the mundane musical chairs routine every year. And depending on where your coveted spot in class was, you could have had potentially upto eight neighbours with whom your furniture shared borders with. I've come to accept that my memory banks are not as reliable especially over extended periods of time....which is why I shifted my faith into something better - pen and paper(electronic wasn't even an option then).
One day, noticing my sister make a map of her classroom with seating positions of every classmate, it piqued my interest to follow suit. Next thing I knew, I was bent over a page of my red diary and scribbling names into rectangular boxes that signified seats. I am glad I did that because it remained a habit for me to create a new version each time a teacher decided to shuffle us all up. My little red diary since then became the storehouse of my greatest memories in childhood.
Heres one of my class (VI B and VII B) in its original form (click to view full sized image). If you were in my class in VIth or VIIth, I guarantee that you exist somewhere in a bound red book.
